Independence day
Lots of energetic younguns (teenagers and young adults) running through the streets of Santa Cruz, dressed in blue and white (the national colors) and shouting. Others come loaded into the backs of pick up trucks. All making a lot of noise, shouting, blowing whistles. Tomorrow is the national celebration of 190 years of independence, and apparently time for more partying. I've just barely recovered from the last round of feasts and then the elections. The marching bands have been practicing in Chinique for the last few weeks, and now bands from different areas are driving into town; perhaps some festivity tonight? I think it's time to get out of here, although I can't promise that Chinique will be a whole lot quieter....
