Can't get rid of the elections quite yet//Todavía no se han acabado las elecciones

So, when I came home on the night of the 11th, the town seemed quiet. There were people still in the yard of the Patriota headquarters across the street but things seemed kind of subdued. The news as I was driving  home at 11:15 or so was that there would definitely be a second round in November, so the party could not claim an outright victory for the presidential race.


However, this morning, I found out that there had been a lot of drama last night in town. Apparently representatives of LIDER (the party of Baldizón) got angry when they figured out that they were not going to win the mayoralty, and they started to burn the ballots. At least that's what I was told. Then things got even uglier, some punches were thrown, police were assaulted, and the poll watchers from the other parties went running out down to the bridge at the entrance to the town. This was about 3 a.m.  I was just told that there is a meeting at the municipal building, so I am going to see what is going on.

Por lo tanto, cuando llegué a casa el 11 por la noche, el pueblo parecía tranquilo. Todavía había personas en el patio de la sede de los Patriota en frente, pero las cosas parecía un poco apagado. Las noticias, mientras que estaba conduciendo a casa a las 11:15 más o menos, fue que definitivamente habría una segunda vuelta en noviembre, por lo que el partido no podía reclamar una victoria absoluta para la carrera presidencial.

Sin embargo, esta mañana, me enteré de que había habido mucho drama ayer por la noche en el pueblo . Al parecer, los representantes de LIDER (el partido de Baldizón) se enojaron cuando se descubrieron que no iban a ganar la alcaldía, y comenzaron a quemar las papeletas. Al menos eso es lo que me dijeron. Luego las cosas se pusieron aún más feas, algunos golpes fueron lanzados, la policía fue asaltado, y los observadores electorales de las otras partes salió corriendo hasta el puente a la entrada del pueblo. Esto fue a las 3 am me dijeron simplemente que hay una reunión en el edificio municipal, así que me voy a ver lo que está pasando.
